2025: What. A. Year. I am sitting here by the fire watching Avengers Endgame with the intention of the final "snap" to occur at exactly midnight on New Years and I find myself wanting to reflect on the year. I came across another designer's, Heather Peterson, email where she lists her wins for the year and I was inspired to reflect on my wins of 2025 AND write them down.
I already reflect on my goals and things I want to change business-wise during my annual End-of-Year planning meeting but I never share my wins with others. I recently read a book called The Gap and The Gain by Dan Sullivan where they encourage the reader to list their 3 wins for the day and 3 goals for the next day every night prior to sleeping. I have adapted this practice and it has been impactful for my mental health and productivity. The author encourages you to have an accountability buddy to share your wins with, not to brag, but to celebrate with you. I encourage you to do the same!
This year was hard business wise with the economy and tarrifs but JLL Interiors has experienced so much growth through it all. I have experienced things I never dreamed I would so early on in my business and I am thankful for every new experience.
In business news:
I read the Gap and The Gain and have forever changed my thinking when it comes to comparison
I sourced the most beautiful fabrics to date
completed one of my favorite projects
I am halfway done with Kitchen And Bath Design Program
I outsourced tasks that were not my strengths!
I learned to trust my gut
I designed custom furniture
and have worked with some really amazing artisans
I connected with some of my business heroes (and learned from them!)
I would call myself officially proficient in chief architect
I hired someone for SEO optimization
and am exploring working with a stylist
in personal news:
I realized how many hours I actually want to work
am involved in the school PTA
working on reading through the bible chronologically for the 3rd time
I recognized when it was time to move on to a new house. The feeling that knowing deep down in your soul that our work is done at our current home and is ready for a new family is WILD
we bought a new house!
learning (and accepting) that 2026 is the year of rest
So much to be thankful for this year! If you are still reading, thank you for your support. It means the world. Cheers to a wonderful 2026!
